About the XLR-8 Freefly School
The XLR-8 Freefly
School is based at
Para Centro Locarno, a top-ranking dropzone in the beautiful southern
Switzerland. The area is surrounded by mountains and river valleys on the southern side of
the Swiss pre-alpine massif, and with Lake Verbano about one mile away, it offers a
breathtaking background.
Supported by the dropzone, XLR-8 was founded in 1997 with
the purpose to promote freefly and teach safe and competent flying. In the last
six years, XLR-8 did over 5000 coaching jumps. With numerous
seminars and lots of organizing, XLR-8 has created an experienced
and lively freefly scene at Para Centro Locarno.
Freefly Coaching
The XLR-8 Freefly School concept aims
to an organic development of the various flying techniques (Head-down, Head-up, Tracking)
and to an open vision about the mutable shapes progressive freefly can take.
The coaching praxis
is based on the 1-on-1 method, in which the instructor
interacts with the student and videos the aerial performance for further
debriefing. The teaching process is primarily oriented to the student's
peculiarities and specific needs. We want to shape independent flyers, able to progress on
their own and beyond limits they can clearly see and understand.
In addition to 1-on-1 instruction, XLR-8
offers team and group coaching to competitors, cameraflyers, and funjumpers.

Freefly Seminars
XLR-8 organizes freefly seminars throughout the year, creating the basic conditions of a dynamic and
self-developing freefly scene at Para Centro Locarno and other dropzones.
Seminar participants have the chance to learn to
fly with others and are taught the basics and advanced skills needed to jump
safely and proficiently in bigger groups than usual.
For Seminar dates and details, see Events
& Contact Us.
XLR-8 welcomes all flyers willing to expand
their experience in the element air :-)
